Developing emotional well-being

Hypnosis is a natural state, and one which we pass into and out of, many times a day. It is the state we enter when we daydream, meditate or simply spend some time just “lost in thought'

Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep but rather a natural state of deep relaxation and inner awareness similar to daydreaming.

We have all experienced hypnosis in our daily lives. Have you ever driven somewhere and could not remember how you got there? Or been “deep in thought” at the exclusion of everything else around you? These are only two of many commonly occurring examples of hypnosis or altered state of awareness.

In our lives, we are most comfortable when we have a feeling of balance, being grounded, a feeling of freedom and a sense of equilibrium.

Consider the subconscious mind as the part of you which looks out for you and learns how to guide you through life. Most of the time it does a good job but sometimes it can make mistakes and needs help. Through hypnosis and hypnotherapy I can help correct these problems by re-education or re-training.

An iceberg can serve as a useful metaphor to understand the subconscious mind, its relationship to the conscious mind and how the two parts can better work together. As an iceberg floats in the water, the huge mass of it remains below the surface. Therefore only a small percentage of the whole iceberg is visible above the surface. In this way, the iceberg is like the mind. The conscious mind is what we notice above the surface while the subconscious mind, the largest and most powerful part, remains unseen below the surface containing infinite wisdom and memory and a very deep level of intelligence.

The subconscious mind is your untapped resource for creativity and imagination and directs nearly all of your behaviour. Most importantly, your subconscious is also responsible for maintaining your body in good health and for all autonomic processes (e.g. your breathing, blood circulation, tissue regeneration, repair, fight or flight responses etc).

Your subconscious is constantly monitoring millions of pieces of information every second and making decisions for you about the data. This is why there are so many processes which happen unconsciously or outside of our normal conscious awareness.

The hypnosis you will experience during your appointment is the systematic method that allows you to enter these “natural dreamlike states” and communicate directly with your unconscious mind, allowing me to re-programme patterns of behaviour and enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome. With the right motivation and time and your ability to follow some simple instructions, profound changes can be made. All you have to do is relax and enjoy the experience!
